DIGITAL AGE ST(R)OKES SILENT HEALTH CRISIS

In today's fast-paced digital world, an alarming health issue is emerging among young adults in their 20s and 30s. Once thought to primarily affect older generations, strokes are increasingly striking younger individuals, with modern lifestyles and excessive screen time playing a significant role in this growing crisis.

Digital habits are raising risks

Dr Nirmal Surya, President of the Indian Stroke Association (ISA), highlighted the detrimental impact of excessive mobile phone use. "Young people spend hours scrolling through social media or watching short videos, neglecting physical activity. This reduces blood circulation and increases the risk of blood clots, which are a leading cause of strokes," he explained. Beyond the physical risks, Dr Surya also addressed the emotional toll of constant digital engagement.
