An Ahmedabad resident lost Rs 52.7 lakh after being deceived by scammers posing as officials from the Delhi Police and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The fraud began on October 10, 2024, when the victim, a retiree and resident of Memnagar, received a call on his mobile phone at around 9 am. The caller, using the number 9296919061, introduced himself as Rohit Sharma, a junior telecom officer from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). He claimed that Kumar's mobile number had been involved in fraudulent transactions and that his bank account and SIM card would be blocked.
