Insurance co told to pay kin of driver and cleaner

HC says firm could not prove its murder theory, must compensate kin under MVA

The Gujarat High Court has rejected two appeals filed by an insurance company against the compensation awarded to the families of a driver and a cleaner who were run over by a truck. It was later proved that they were murders and not accidents as a man had allegedly poisoned both the deceased and then ran the truck over them to make it look like an accident. The tribunal had ordered the insurance company to pay compensation to the kin of the deceased under the Motor Vehicles Act.
