Acceptance of Rs 10 coins resumes in Rajkot and parts of Saurashtra

The Rs 10 coin that was unofficially 'demonetised' by Rajkotians, though it continued to be a valid currency across the country and Gujarat, is finally finding favour with the people of the district, albeit very slowly.

For the last few years, Rajkot and many other surrounding towns and villages were reluctant to accepting Rs10 coins.

A stationary shopkeeper, Nimish Patel, said he is not aware of how the resistance came but both shopkeepers and customers are reluctant to accept Rs 10 coins. "No one knows the exact reason why this is so but nobody accepts the Rs10 coins. It's like cascading effect."
