SG Highway most 'jammed up' place

Faulty road design, water-logging main reasons for traffic jams in July; YMCA to Vaishnodevi on SG Highway and IIMA to Vastrapur Lake stretches worst-affected

The city's traffic woes have intensified, with a recent spike in both minor and major accidents alongside over 130 traffic jams recorded in just one week (July 7-13).

While city traffic police report a slight decrease in fatal accidents from 109 in June 2023 to 100 in June 2024, serious accidents have risen from 189 to 196, and minor accidents have increased from 128 to 164 in the same period, raising concerns.

Faulty roads, unmanned junctions

Traffic experts attribute the increase in accidents to a lack of functional traffic signals, traffic congestion, poor road engineering, and the deterioration of roads due to rain.
