MD & CEO reveals plans to buy stake in health insurer by FY25-end

State-owned insurer LIC reported a 3.8 per cent decline in net profit to ₹7,729 crore for the quarter ended September 30, primarily due to a drop in other income.

The country's largest insurer had posted a net profit of ₹7,925 crore in the same quarter last year, LIC stated in a regulatory filing.

Net premium income eased to ₹1.2 trillion in Q2 FY25, compared to ₹1.07 trillion in the same period a year earlier. Meanwhile, other income nearly halved to ₹148 crore from ₹248 crore in the prior year's quarter.
