Business Standard|June 30, 2023
Over a century after it was first published in 1888, National Geographic (NatGeo), an award-winning magazine, has laid off the last of its remaining writing staff. It is known for covering science and the natural world in great depth.
Nat Geo sacks last remaining staff writers

A total of 19 writers were let go by the publication as per reports and tweets by several editorial members.

These are the second layoffs over nine months, and the fourth since layoffs commenced in 2015 by the magazine due to a growth decline in print and digital spaces.

According to Washington Post, the magazine will now approach freelancers for writing articles, or they will be assembled by the editorial staff.
