CARLOS ALCARAZ devoured Novak Djokovic to retain his Wimbledon title - and then said he is not yet at the top table of "champions" because he has won only four Grand Slam titles.
The Spaniard saw off the Serbian in a five-set classic last year when he was a point away from going two sets down. This time Alcaraz, 21, outplayed the most successful male singles player of all time 6-2 6-2 7-6 in only two hours and 27 minutes.
Seven-time Wimbledon champion Djokovic had to save three Championship points to force the tiebreak and prevent an even quicker defeat.
Just over a month after knee surgery, Djokovic was far from his ruthless best as he suffered his second worst defeat in 37 Grand Slam finals - and only his fifth straight-set loss in a showpiece.
But in front of the Princess of Wales and sporting and Hollywood royalty, Alcaraz's beaming smile lit up Centre Court like his blistering shots as he was crowned the King of Wimbledon again.
