Fighting back...tractor drivers' go-slow protest

DOZENS of tractor drivers staged a go-slow protest yesterday calling on the Government to stop "betraying" farming and rural communities.

Farmers drove alongside lorries in Dover, Kent, bearing signs on tractors, with messages including, "Stop sub-standard imports" and "No farmers, no food, no future".

The action follows outrage from agricultural landowners about the Government's proposed tax changes that will see farmers pay inheritance tax on properties and land worth more than £1million.

Struggling

The Save British Farming and Fairness for Farmers campaign groups, which organised the protest, said the Government's Budget was a "hammer blow" to the industry, which was already struggling.
