BBC chairman Richard Sharp quit yesterday after breaking rules over dealings with pal Boris Johnson.
Mr Sharp announced he was stepping down after he failed to declare he had helped the former Prime Minister get a £800,000 loan when he was appointed to the broadcaster's top job.
Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker tweeted: "The BBC chairman should not be selected by the government of the day.
