THERE has been a delightful symmetry to the Olympic Games in recent history British diver Tom Daley keeps becoming a hero.
He did it again yesterday by winning silver in the men's synchronised 10m platform event with partner Noah Williams.
It came on a Magic Monday for the nation as equestrian stars Ros Canter, Laura Collett and Tom McEwen landed Team GB's first gold of the Games by retaining the team eventing title.
Then mountain biker Tom Pidcock, who turns 25 today, overcame a puncture to claim Britain's second gold.
Diving great Daley, 30, mouthed the words "Daddy's won a medal" to his two children - Robbie, six, and 16-month-old Phoenix who were in the crowd.
Daley blew them a kiss as he took to the podium. He later told how Robbie, draped in a Union Flag, lobbed a cup at him after the medal presentation.
Daley joked: "I don't know if anyone saw [but he] threw his juice cup at me. And it was like, 'Come here. And he threw it at me.
"It nearly took out one of the BBC reporters.
He also told how Robbie persuaded him to make a comeback after his decision to retire last year.
Daley was kissed on the cheek by diving partner Williams, 24, as they showed off their medals.
Daley, who got an Olympics bronze aged 18 at London 2012, has now been on the podium at each of the past four Games.
