MASON MOUNT says he knew his time at Chelsea was up several months ago and that Manchester United is the right place to relaunch his career.
Mount, who was at Chelsea from the age of six, has joined United for £55million, rising to £60m with add-ons, on a five-year deal with the option for an extra year.
The 24-year-old revealed he knew he had no future at Chelsea well before the end of last season.
He made his mind up to join United as soon as he learned of their interest.
Mount said: "Several months ago it became clear that I wasn't in Chelsea's plans moving forward and, once I knew United were involved, my decision was made up.
"It's a massive club with huge, iconic players who have played here, and I wanted to be a part of that from the beginning. Getting in early, ready for pre-season to start, was a main objective of mine as well.
"Pre-season is huge, it gets you in the right shape going into the season.
