AFTER months of uncertainty and worry, the nation was relieved to hear from the Princess of Wales yesterday and to see an uplifting picture.
In a heartfelt message, Kate was candid about her ongoing battle with cancer and confirmed that she will be at today's Trooping the Colour and hopefully some summer events, health depending.
In the heartwarming new picture of herself, she looked serene as she posed under a weeping willow tree in the grounds of the Windsor estate.
It was taken by celebrity and royal photographer Matt Porteous.
But in her first public appearance since announcing she had cancer in March, Kate warned she is "not out of the woods" and will still need preventative chemotherapy for some months.
She thanked the country for its support during the dark days following her diagnosis and praised others who have shared their own experiences of the dreadful disease with her.
The 42-year-old said: "I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months.
"It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.
"I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days.
"On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting.
"But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.
