Israeli blitz hits navy & missile sites

ISRAEL has launched its most devastating wave of heavy bombing raids across Syria as troops advanced deeper into the embattled country.

The blitz is aimed at completely dismantling toppled ex-President al-Assad's war machine so that it does not land in Israel-hating jihadists' hands.

Among the targets are chemical weapons dumps, missile launch sites and warplanes as Israeli defence minister announced his forces had destroyed Syria's navy.

Israel has pushed into a buffer zone inside Syria following the overthrow of Assad. Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said the country intended to establish a demilitarised zone in southern Syria.
