BORIS Johnson's top aide branded the Prime Minister and his cronies "moronic" in blistering messages, the Covid inquiry heard yesterday.
The scathing WhatsApp critique was sent by his senior No10 adviser Dominic Cummings to Cabinet Secretary Simon Case and Director of Communications Lee Cain.
Cummings, who resigned two months later in November 2020, and is due to give evidence to the inquiry today, said: "As always discussions with these ministers is moronic. They cannot understand priorities. They didn't even understand what they were talking about for most of this mtng."
In another chat, Mr Case warned the then PM alternated between fearing the virus was getting worse and "let it rip mode" when he argued the country was "pathetic" and "needs a cold shower".
He wrote: "He cannot lead... A weak team definitely cannot succeed in these [circumstances]. IT HAS TO STOP!"
Mr Case added: "I'm at the end of my tether... Gov't isn't actually that hard but this guy is really making it impossible."
