Kid Carlos looking forward to chilling back home in Spain with friends and family after ‘crazy’ Wimbledon epic

CARLOS ALCARAZ flew home to Murcia last night for a short holiday and to be "a normal guy" again.

But the tennis world is still reverberating with the young Spaniard's super human achievement of beating Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon to herald a new age in the sport.

BBC viewing figures for the men's final peaked at 11.3million the highest since Andy Murray's 2016 triumph to show the 20-year-old's appeal.

Wearing a dinner suit and black tie, Alcaraz enchanted the audience at the Champions' Dinner on Sunday night in the same way he had earlier captured the Centre Court crowd. "It is a crazy feeling," he admitted.

Already a Major champion from last year's US Open, being a Wimbledon champion takes his fame to a new level.

But asked what he will do next in a Q&A with Andrew Castle, the modest Spaniard said: "I will go home to Murcia. To stay at home a little bit and some vacation as well, some days off.

"I really want to come back home, see my family, my friends, to feel like I'm a normal guy again at home chilling.
