POLICE say they will not tolerate criminal activity "camouflaged as protest" at the Coronation and are prepared to use new laws designed to prevent disruption.
In the effort to ensure the safety of the King and the huge number of others attending the event on Saturday, Operation Golden Orb will involve 11,500 officers on duty plus 10,000 military personnel taking part in the ceremony.
Police have warned that any demonstrators intent on obstructing the Coronation can expect "very swift action" during what will be Britain's largest-ever security operation.
The Met said they will have an "extremely low threshold" for anyone disrupting the event but that peaceful protesters will be allowed to display anti-monarchist slogans.
Under the new Public Order Act, protesters who block roads may NOT face up to a year behind bars.
An official letter warning of the new powers was sent to anti-monarchy group Republic.
Its chief Graham Smith said it is "very odd" the letter came from the Home Office and described it as "intimidatory". He added there are plans for 1700 people to protest in Trafalgar Square on Saturday. Officers from across the country will help manage the hundreds of thousands of people set to line the route in London.
