Starmer’s crackdown promise over thefts and attacks on staff

KEIR Starmer warned shoplifters he is coming for them as figures show thieves got away scot-free in almost 250,000 cases.

The Labour leader pledged to axe a Tory law that downgraded the theft of goods worth less than £200 to a minor offence.

Home Office figures show in the past year more than 248,000 shoplifting cases were closed without a suspect being found or where further action was considered not in the public interest.
