GAZING over at a peaceful lake in his Swedish homeland, SvenGoran Eriksson feels an inner calm amid the turmoil of his terminal cancer diagnosis.
And the 76-year-old tells how the still waters could be his final resting place before he goes on to deliver a poignant goodbye message as his time on Earth nears its end.
Sven says: "I had a good life. I think we are all scared of the day when we die, but life is about death as well. You have to learn to accept it for what it is.
"Hopefully at the end people will say, yeah, he was a good man, but everyone will not say that.
"I hope you will remember me as a positive guy trying to do everything he could do.
"Don't be sorry, smile. Thank you for everything, coaches, players, the crowds, it's been fantastic.
"Take care of yourself and take care of your life. And live it. Bye." The emotional moment is the climax of an incredible new Prime Video documentary in which former England manager Sven reflects on his life and an incredible football career that took him across the globe, winning an army of fans along the way.
It also charts what are expected to be the final months of his life after he revealed in January he had pancreatic cancer and has "at best" a year to live.
Since falling ill, Sven has spent almost all his time at his Swedish home in Sunne, and has reconnected with his family.
On a trip to the nearby Fryken lake last autumn, he says: "Beautiful place, it makes you calm. It makes me calm. Below the mountain there my father grew up.
"Straight ahead, that is Thornsby where I grew up. And Sunne where I was born." Pointing at the lake, he adds: “I always thought it's a great place to sleep. The ashes could be thrown into the water here. It feels like home." The film shows simple, happy days spent reading, playing cards and enjoying meals with son Johan, daughter Lina and his partner of 15 years, Yaniseth Bravo.
