Fight against route cuts that make lives a misery

PENSIONERS have launched a protest against crippling cuts to bus routes which are making their lives a misery.

Fed-up residents told how slashing services has left them feeling isolated and struggling to get around.

Carer Ann Bywater, 62, revealed that one 98-year-old woman tried to kill herself due to the lack of buses.

Ann said: "She has no family, no means of shopping. She can go days without food, a week without seeing anybody.

The pensioner's ordeal was highlighted at the protest in Barnsley, South Yorks. Passengers in the county have been hardest hit after it was denied any funding from the Tories under their Bus Back Better scheme.
