A CONVICTED domestic abuser who assaulted his pregnant wife has landed a job as a deputy sheriff in the US.
Andrew Parr, from Hawick, Roxburghshire, managed to secure the $30,000-a-year job as a jail guard despite two domestic abuse convictions in Scotland.
Parr, who battered his wife with a shoe and poured beer over her, was appointed as a jailer in Bremer County Sheriff's Department, Iowa, in April.
The law enforcement job came despite his conviction for domestic abuse in 2013 and a second conviction in 2017 for threatening behaviour towards a partner.
It's understood Bremer County Sheriff Dan Pickett has now been notified about 36-year-old Parr's criminal past.
