My best friend used my credit card to pay £2000 for Mercedes deposit

A BUSINESSWOMAN told how she was "betrayed" by her best friend, who used her credit card to pay a £2000 deposit on a Mercedes.

Anna Renton was left "devastated" after discovering her pal - 38-year-old mum-of-two Anika Allan - had been stealing from her.

Describing Allan as "like a sister to me", Anna said she was left "heartbroken" after learning the truth.

Anna, 42, was at Edinburgh Sheriff Court to see Allan plead guilty to a fraud charge.

After the court case, Anna told the Record she was still grieving the loss of the 13-year friendship but wanted the "closure" of seeing her former friend face justice.

Allan used Anna's credit card details to fund the deposit on the luxury car at a dealership near the capital and also to pay for hotel stays.
