Harry is awarded 'modést' damages over Mirror group newspaper stories

PRINCE Harry has won just under half his claims of unlawful information gathering against the Mirror publisher in a High Court ruling.

The Duke of Sussex, 39, sued Mirror Group Newspapers for damages, claiming journalists at its titles - the Daily and Sunday Mirror and Sunday People were linked to methods such as voicemail interception, gaining information by deception and use of private investigators for unlawful activities.

MGN denied 28 of the 33 historical articles involved unlawful information gathering and said it was not admitted for the remaining five articles.

Mr. Justice Fancourt gave his ruling yesterday in favour of Harry on 15 of the 33 claims. He will be awarded £140,600 in damages. He had asked for £443,000.

His case was heard alongside claims from three others including Michael Turner, better known as Michael Le Vell, who plays Kevin Webster in Corrie.

Mr. Justice Fancourt ruled in favour of Mr. Turner on four of his 27 claims, awarding him £31,650 in damages.
