Drinkers don't realise 'foreign' ale is UK-made

SEVEN in 10 people believe the UK produces poor quality beer despite best-selling tipples such as Birra Moretti and Madri being brewed here.

Only about one in 10 respondents was aware the lagers are UK-made, while half of people aged 28 to 43 boasted of forking out more for premium "continental" beers.

Some 80 per cent of drinkers aged under 34 said British beer was rubbish and 15 per cent of all age groups said the UK "produces nothing well at all".
