OUR shock September heatwave could be the new "normal" due to climate change - but scientists have warned it could pose a major health risk.

Scots had another day of soaring temperatures yesterday baking in the unseasonable warmth - with the Indian summer set to continue into the weekend before cooling from Sunday.

The country officially met heatwave conditions on Thursday after the mercury topped 25C in Prestwick for the third day in a row.

Experts say the hot weather across Britain has been unusually extreme and sustained for the time of year.
