MATT O'RILEY had to cut short a holiday to answer the Denmark call.
And the Celtic star can't disguise his delight at landing a spot in Kasper Hjulmand's squad to set up a senior international debut.
O'Riley could get his first cap for the Danes tomorrow night after replacing Kasper Dolberg in the 23-man group to face San Marino.
The midfielder's brilliant club form has been rewarded with the Euro 2024 qualifier shout after six appearances for the Under-21 side.
And O'Riley admits it meant he had to be rapid off the pitch rather than on it.
He said: "It happened very quickly. I just got a call from Morten Wieghorst and Kasper Hjulmand.
"I was sitting in Mallorca and eight hours later I was in Denmark, so it all happened very quickly.
"Morten said there was a very good chance I would go, then I had to pack my things and be ready.
"I had to talk to the hotel receptionist and say I had to check out. But the feeling you get with that is really good!"
O'Riley headed off to Copenhagen to watch their 3-1 triumph over Kazakhstan on Saturday night.
However, his hopes of keeping a low profile in the Parken Stadium as he tried to keep the potential call-up under wraps didn't go to plan.
He added: "It was a bit strange. After all, I wasn't sure if I should hide my face or not. I didn't want anyone to talk about it, so I chose to wear a hat and hood."
