Surprise package Matt leads the field at BMW PGA after being a van driver for Amazon

WORLD No.363 Matthew Baldwin is 36 holes from delivering a shock victory at the BMW PGA - only two years after driving an Amazon van.

The 38-year-old first played on the European Tour in 2012 but has lost his card twice and before playing the Challenge Tour in 2022 took the driving job.

Now the Englishman takes a two-shot lead over Europe's best players into the weekend in chasing a £1.15million first prize at Wentworth.

British Masters winner Niklas Norgaard is Baldwin's nearest challenger on 11 under following a 68, with France's Antoine Rozner another stroke back after six birdies in the last seven in a bogey-free 65.

Rory McIlroy lies four shots off the lead on nine under after adding a 68 to his opening 67.

Baldwin said: "Plenty of times I've been tempted to give up and try something else.
