RYAN MULLEN admits he's lucky to have a glove rival dishing out pep talks designed to BEAT him.

The former Celtic youth jumped two tiers swapping Clyde for Morton this summer, allowing him to stop selling clothes at Flannels at Braehead to focus on looking the part in full-time football.

In goal for their League Cup games, a groin injury then sidelined the keeper as 37-year-old Jamie MacDonald pitched up to claim the Cappielow gloves.

Mullen spent £16,000 savings on stem cell treatment in Colombia last year to sort a thigh problem so he's the last person to simply accept his lot.

Today's clash against Elgin is a chance to hammer home his credentials up against the stalwart.
