JK vs YOUSAF IN HATE LAW ROW

HUMZA Yousaf has said JK Rowling's criticism of planned legislation to fight misogyny in Scotland does not make "any logical sense".

The First Minister's comments came after the Harry Potter author accused him of showing "absolute contempt for women".

Yousaf said on Tuesday the Bill would cover transgender women who suffer misogynistic abuse supporting the view of Baroness Helena Kennedy, a top lawyer whose work informed the planned law.

The Scottish Government is going ahead with plans to create a standalone law against misogyny, despite critics insisting it should have been included in the Hate Crime Act which came in on April 1.

It comes after the Conservatives last night failed in a bid to have the new Act repealed.

The legislation saw Police Scotland swamped with more than 7000 complaints in the first week.
