POP diva Mariah Carey has spoken of her sadness after the death of both her mother and sister on the same day.
But there was sadness leading up to the tragedy too, as Mariah, 55, was locked in a bitter feud with her estranged sister, Alison.
Alison, 63, had launched a £1million defamation case against her sibling. The legal claim, filed in January 2021, concerned allegations in Mariah's memoir that Alison said were designed to "humiliate" her.
She died at the weekend, reportedly of organ failure. It was within hours of the death of the sisters' 87-year-old mum, Patricia.
Alison said several allegations in the 2020 book, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, were false.
One of the passages she took issue with was a claim she drugged and tried to "pimp out" Mariah, who was 12 at the time.
The book claimed Alison, then 20, gave her sister Valium.
Mariah added in the memoir that she was left alone with Alison's boyfriend who allegedly forced the 12-year-old girl to kiss him. She said the incident only ended after a passer-by saw him.
