SICK scammers are targeting the funerals of young people in an attempt to dupe grieving friends and relatives into revealing their bank details.

One Kirk minister, who has seen a spate of the despicable scams in the last few weeks, is now warning people to be on alert.

Rev Barry Hughes, minister of St Mark's Church in Raploch, Stirling, said four funerals conducted by him have been the focus of the fraudsters.

The online crooks are copying funeral notices and then creating fake Facebook accounts to target friends and family of the deceased.
