NHS STAFF MAKE 10,000 COP CALLS

Hospitals and clinics faced with 4000 violent incidents in 5 yrs

COPS have been called out to hospitals and health centres almost 10,000 times in five years, figures showed yesterday. 

And 4000 of the callouts were violence-related.

Health boards revealed 9520 emergency calls were made and 3830 were after patients saw red.

But the figure is likely to be higher as some of the bigger boards such as NHS Lothian and Lanarkshire not specifying the reason for callouts.
