AS the Tories tear themselves apart in a bitter civil war, Rishi Sunak was last night accused of leaving Britain rudderless while he fights to save his own skin.

With millions struggling in the cost of living crisis, the NHS in dire straits, and schools crumbling, the PM is obsessed with pushing through his Rwanda immigration scheme that will do little to alleviate people's suffering.

Even members of his own party warned the cruel deportation policy is doomed to fail, plunging his future at No10 in doubt amid whispers Tory MPs are submitting letters of no-confidence.

Keir Starmer last night accused Sunak of losing his grip on the country's problems as he branded the asylum scheme a "gimmick". 

As the PM faces a perilous week with a grilling at the Covid Inquiry today, a crunch Rwanda vote tomorrow, and growing calls for a general election, the Labour leader said: "The Tories no longer stand for anything and their ability to govern has collapsed.

"While they look inward and battle to save themselves, Labour is focused on the pound in your pocket, and the future of our country.
