B&M has removed Slush Puppie drinks from its shelves after a toddler fell seriously ill.

The Record reported how Arla Agnew, two, was left "20 minutes from death" after consuming the drink at a pal's birthday party on Saturday.

Arla, from Stranraer, was rushed to hospital suffering from a hypoglycemic episode - where the level of sugar (glucose) in the blood drops too low.

Her family said medics explained Slush Puppies contain glycerol, which in high quantities can make children go into hypoglycemic shock.

Last August, Food Standards Scotland (FSS) advised retailers to carry warnings on packaging which state the drinks are not suitable for children under four.

Arla's family claim the drink with no warning on the label - was bought from bargain retailer B&M in July.
