Toony drops four from finals squad

GREGOR TOWNSEND has axed four players from his World Cup squad – and four more are set to follow. 

But it won’t be straightforward for the Scotland head coach after first-choice scrum-half Ben White was injured and key forward Zander Fagerson sent off in Saturday’s stunning 25-21 comeback win over France at Murrayfield.

Toony will now have to wait for an update on the severity of White’s injury and the outcome of a disciplinary hearing, which could see Fagerson banned for part of the World Cup, before finalising his squad of 33 on August 16.
