PM set for U-turn on disastrous high-speed line

RISHI Sunak was slated last night for his shambolic handling of the HS2 project.

The PM is expected to announce the high speed rail scheme will stop at Manchester as the Tories hold their conference in the city.

Andy Burnham, the Labour mayor of Greater Manchester, last night said he was "still in the dark" over the mammoth rail project.

He said axing the line between Manchester and Birmingham would be the "desperate act of a dying government".
