PASSENGERS on Flight SQ321 last night told of their horror after the jet plunged 6,000ft without warning in a turbulence nightmare that killed Brit Geoff Kitchen.
People were catapulted into the air and smashed against the ceiling as food and drinks flew around the Singapore Airlines Boeing 777 cabin.
Dad-of-two Geoff, 73, is thought to have had a heart attack after he was flung side to side while the pilots grappled for control.
Wife Linda is believed to be among dozens of people injured. The pair were off on a “holiday of a lifetime”.
The jet hit the turbulence while cruising at 37,000ft over Myanmar, 10 hours after leaving Heathrow for Changi in Singapore – a split second after the seatbelt sign came on.
Student Dzafran Azmir, 28, from Malaysia, said: “Suddenly the aircraft starts tilting up and there was shaking.
“There was a very dramatic drop so everyone not wearing a seatbelt was launched into the ceiling.
“Some people hit their heads on the baggage cabins.” Andrew Davies, from Lewisham, London, added: “There was an awful screaming and what sounded like a thud when the plane suddenly dropped.
“It felt like an instant between the seatbelt sign coming on and the drop.
