A TEENAGER who died follow-in an incident at school is believe to have been involved in a highly dangerous internet challenge.
Hamdan Aslam, 14, was rushed t hospital after becoming unwel during a lunch break at St Kentigern Academy in Blackburn, West Lothian on Tuesday.
A number of reports have claimed he choked during a social media challenge called "tap out".
It is believed to involve puttin someone in a headlock until they tap to be released before they pass ou due to lack of oxygen.
Staff at the school are understood to have performed CPR at the scene but Hamdan could not be saved.
One eyewitness to the incident, who we have chosen not to name, said: "There were two attempts made at the game and he passed out during the second one. People tried to help and to check for a pulse. The next thing we knew he was in an ambulance and the police had arrived."
The parent council at nearby Broxburn Academy issued a warning about the deadly online trend.
It read: "Please warn your children not to play tap out. It can have serious consequences. We wish to share to prevent this tragedy happening to anyone else.
A family are grieving today." Hamdan, from Greenrigg in West Lothian, was described as a "gentle" boy by a heartbroken cousin.
Zain Mohammed, 29, said: "Hamdan was gentle and wouldn't hurt a fly. He was reserved and didn't speak very much. He was a good boy and so family-oriented. We can't believe he is gone. It's a devastating loss. We loved him very much."
Zain also claimed online that Hamdan was "in a chokehold" in a game called tap out.
A community news page posted: "Thoughts are with the family and friends of an S3 pupil at St Kentigern's Academy who sadly passed away following an incident involving the game tap out."
