KEIR Starmer has urged world leaders to support Ukraine for as long as it takes to combat Vladimir Putin's aggression, which today enters its 1000th day.

And the PM refused to rule out allowing British-supplied long-range missiles to be fired into Russia, after US President Joe Biden gave Kyiv the go-ahead to use American warheads.

But there are fears the growing tensions between Moscow and the West could spill over into war as Putin vowed to retaliate if any of the weapons are used on its territory.

Any vow Starmer makes could be plunged into turmoil when Donald Trump, who wants to pull military aid to Ukraine, takes office in January.

He was asked yesterday whether allowing US missiles to be fired into Russia by President Volodymyr Zelensky risks sparking World War III.

Speaking at the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he replied: "We have to support Ukraine in this. This is about sovereignty of Ukraine but it's also about our own freedoms.
