MSP hits out over baby death inquiry delays

A GRIEVING couple whose 11-day-old daughter died after picking up a hospital infection have "waited too long for answers".

Theresa, 42, and 53-year-old Matthew Smith, from Greenock, are not allowed to discuss the death of their baby daughter Sophia in 2017 for legal reasons.

But yesterday their MSP Paul O'Kane hit out as yet more delays to the Scottish Hospital Inquiry means families are still waiting for explanations about the death of their loved ones.

O'Kane labelled the resignation of multiple lawyers from the inquiry as "evidence of real challenges" in getting truth for the Smiths.
