Dimbleby: BBC chairman Sharp 'should fall on his sword' over Johnson loan row

The head of the corporation has been criticised by MPs for a "significant error of judgment" for failing to disclose his involvement in "the facilitation" of an £800,000 loan to Boris Johnson while he was Prime Minister.

At the heart of the row is whether Mr Sharp should have made it clear during the BBC recruitment process that he had been approached by the Canadian businessman Sam Blyth - a distant cousin of Mr Johnson - who guaranteed the loan to the then PM to help ease his financial problems.
