GREEN Londoners were today urged not to allow themselves to be “scared” into voting for Sadiq Khan just to prevent Tory candi date Susan Hall becoming mayor. Zoë Garbett, the Green mayoral can
didate, said “people should vote for what they believe in” — as her colleagues criticised Mr Khan’s plea for Green supporters to “lend” him their vote in Thursday’s poll.
With a change in the voting system to first-past-the-post, Mr Khan claims a vote for the Greens or Lib-Dems could open the door to a shock Tory victory.
But Ms Garbett told the Standard: “It is a shame to see a lot of what Sadiq is talking about is around scaring people into voting for him rather than focusing on his record or his vision.
“We do feel like Susan Hall’s campaign has thrown in the towel. I think people can vote Green confidently. I know that people are incredibly concerned about a Conservative mayor, especially one that doesn’t really have the diversity or values or policies that the majority of Londoners need.”
