THE Kremlin's admission that it has made mistakes in its drive to mobilise reservists to fight in Ukraine is unlikely to "placate" growing public opposition in Russia, defence experts said today.
The Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said Vladimir Putin's regime faced a "daunting task in trying to calm" what it described as "a distraught and panicking population" while still mobilising sufficient troops.
In its latest update on the conflict, the ISW said: "The Kremlin is attempting to message its way out of the reality of major problems in the execution of its 'partial mobilisation' but its narratives are unlikely to placate Russians who can perceive the real mistakes all around them." President Putin last week announced a partial mobilisation of 300,000 reservists.
