Missing Jay came to my Airbnb alive and left alive, says Londoner

AN EAST London man who rented the Airbnb where missing Jay Slater stayed has broken his silence, saying: “Jay came to the house alive and he left the house alive.”

Mr Slater, 19, disappeared shortly after leaving the holiday let in Tenerife on June 17 after being invited back to the property by Ayub Qassim after a rave. It sparked a massive search of the island, with helicopters, drones and search dogs deployed in a bid to find him.

However, the search was called off on Sunday after no trace of the Mr Slater was found, although his parents have vowed to keep looking for him. Mr Qassim, 31, said he allowed the 19-year-old to stay at his holiday accommodation near the village of Masca as “a favour”.

Mr Slater left in the morning intending to walk back to his own accommodation, he said.
