AFTER a muted growth in the first half of 2024, the Indian IT ecosystem is likely to witness 20% growth in job opportunities according to recent reports. There is a renewed enthusiasm amongst employers to hire fresh talent. The First Meridian Business Services report says global capability centres (GCCs) of MNCs located in India hired 600,000 employees between 2018-19 to 2023-24. This number is poised to grow to an impressive 2.5 to 2.8 million employee base by 2030. Most of the talent requirements are for roles related to AI, cybersecurity, data analysts, data engineers and data scientists with the demand for GenAI professionals alone estimated to touch one million by 2028.
