Govt staff suspended for illegally drawing welfare pensions

The Kerala government has initiated action against its employees who were found to be illegally availing the social welfare pensions meant for the elderly, disadvantaged and marginalized sections of society.

The department of soil survey and soil conservation, which falls under the agriculture ministry, placed six of its employees attached to offices in various locations under suspension pending inquiry. The department also said instructions have been given to recover the pension amount availed by them along with interest of 18%.
