Normal life was thrown out of gear in Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir as most parts of the Valley received snowfall, disrupting train and flight operations, officials said on Saturday.

SRINAGAR/SHIMLA: Normal life was thrown out of gear in Himachal Pradesh and Kashmir as most parts of the Valley received snowfall, disrupting train and flight operations, officials said on Saturday. They added that the Indian Army rescued 68 civilians stranded in Gulmarg district following heavy accumulation of snow.

The Chinar Corps said that it responded to a distress call from the civil administration to evacuate tourists stranded in Gulmarg after the road to Tangmarg was closed due to heavy snowfall in the region.

"Providing assistance in evacuation of 68 civilians including 30 ladies, 30 gentlemen and 08 children along with provisioning of hot meals, shelter & medication for a total of 137 tourists," the Chinar Corps said in a post on X, adding that it also responded to a distress call in Munad village of Kulgam and evacuated a pregnant woman.
