DEHRADUN: Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 38th edition of the National Games, scheduled to be held in the state from January 28 to February 14.
"I would like to thank PM Modi. We had urged him to inaugurate the National Games. He has agreed to do so," Dhami said while speaking to media persons in Dehradun on Wednesday.
Thirty-six games will be held during the National Games, including 34 games for medal winning and two for demonstration. Rafting and Kalarippayattu games have been added only for demonstration. There will be no medal given to the winning team. The venues for national games were fixed in six places - Dehradun, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Tehri, Haldwani and Rudrapur. Later, Chakarpur in Udham Singh Nagar, Pithoragarh, Almora and Tanakpur of Champawat district were added.
"Along with this, I also informed him about the winter (Char Dham) yatra. I urged him to stay here for a day during the yatra. It will promote the winter yatra in the country and world. People will get to know about it," Dhami added.
