VARANASI: A 25-year-old transgender person was shot dead by an unidentified bike-borne assailant near Chochakpur turn under Nandganj police station area of Ghazipur on Sunday, police said.
The accused fled the scene after committing the crime. Eyewitnesses reported that the assailant fired a total of four rounds.
A police officer stated that eyewitnesses identified the deceased as Ganga Kinnar (25), a resident of Barhapur village. On Sunday, the deceased had come to Nandganj market in his four-wheeler and was shopping for clothes at a store when a miscreant approached and shot him in the head. The victim collapsed and died on the spot.
The officer stated that the accused fled the scene and the victim succumbed to the bullet injury.
