NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday escalated its attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal over the renovation of his former official residence at 6, Flag Staff Road, accusing him of prioritising personal luxury over public welfare.

BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra targeted Kejriwal over the renovation cost of the building, originally estimated at over ₹7 crore, which ballooned to ₹33.66 crore, which he attributed to a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva alleged that after 2022, the further additions raised the cost of renovations up to ₹80 crore.

Hitting back, the AAP questioned the BJP's alleged citations of the report, which party MP Sanjay Singh said comes in a sealed cover and has not yet been tabled.
